Shemeka’s path to becoming a professional development expert became clear at an early age. She was a natural leader and was elected by her high school peers to serve as freshmen class representative, sophomore class president and student body president during her junior and senior years. One of her responsibilities was to serve on a search committee to hire a new assistant principal. It was then at age 15 that Shemeka discovers her talent for identifying top talent.

Three things about Shemeka and her experience that might surprise and delight you – while serving your work together is that Shemeka’s high energy messages stem from her background as a spoken word performing artist. She can break down large solid content into memorable poetic quotes that she refers to as her “Strategy Seeds to Exceed.” Before her transition into working in education, Shemeka had a career in the fashion industry. She worked at major design firms such as Liz Claiborne, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Jones Apparel Group as a technical designer and addressed production standards for factories in China, India, Indonesia, Guatemala, Turkey and Taiwan thus equipping her with experience for working with professionals on-site and virtually. Shemeka believes in serving her community through active involvement in civic organizations with missions to educate and empower. She has served on the local, regional, national and international level with some of the leading nonprofit associations and has identified what keeps millennials engaged rather than leave organizations.
